hey there,

What does a “Holistic approach to ms” mean?

Why a holistic approach or holistic health is often thought of as A form of medicine that takes into account the whole person, not just individual symptoms. This can include a variety of different health practices including chiropractors, massage, therapy, yoga, meditation, acupuncture, nutrition among others. These practices can be used alone or in combination with Western medicine as well.

When operating from a conventional/western medicine model, the idea is to manage each symptom separately. Which makes sense, because the medical system is set up this way. There is a different doctor for each potential issue.

But not everyone responds the best to this type of medicine.

Why a Holistic approach is important

So many people are struggling with chronic illness or autoimmune disease. Many of these people also feel like the conventional medicine system has failed them. Instead of looking for the reason and cause of their disease they are given Band-Aid medications to just help with symptoms.

We are living in a world where many people are experiencing high levels of stress, working through fatigue, exposed to harmful toxins every day and eating foods with little to no nutritional value.

A holistic approach to health takes into account all of these factors which might be impacting our day-to-day wellness.

Why a Holistic approach is important in your MS treatment

In my opinion, in order to fully take care of yourself and manage MS, you need a holistic approach.

If you’re not paying attention to your stress levels, sleep, physical health, mental health, nutrition, etc. you’re only going to get so much out of any conventional treatment you’re doing.

Getting involved with holistic health practices will not only improve your MS symptoms, it can also help prevent or delay other health issues as well.

Are you utilizing a holistic approach to help manage your MS? Why or why not? Send me a message and let me know!
