I'm Alissa, and I'm pretty sure I know how you're feeling right now.
When I was diagnosed with MS, I had no idea what to do (or who to turn to) for help. I also had no idea that the foods I ate or my lifestyle habits would make a huge difference in my healing and prognosis.
Instead, I was given a stack of medication pamphlets and told to "pick one". It was without a doubt the most confusing & lonely time of my life.
Hey there,
follow me on instagram for all the ms realness, lol.
Self-care, straight talk, strong coffee, naps, and living in my favorite hoodie.
Feeling frustrated and fed up is what led me to become a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner (NTP), an Autoimmune Protocol (AIP) Certified Coach, a Certified Personal Trainer, and learn how to use my skills as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in new ways.
I also founded LissMS, this company, to help people who have been diagnosed with MS feel in control of their lives again.
You can learn more about my work here, but in a nutshell: I believe in a holistic approach to help clients end the endless cycle of frustrating symptoms. I work with them to create their personalized plan of health and healing. I use small, sustainable steps in each plan I create and focus on helping them unblock any mental resistance and/or challenges to healing.
When I am not working with clients, I can be found at the beach with my husband, traveling to new places and spending as much time as possible outside. In August of 2015 I got married to the most (insert mushy gushy stuff here) man, and I’m lucky to have him.
Many times, I felt like my symptoms controlled my life, and I often thought to myself: "I wish I had someone who could help me navigate this."
Since first being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, I've had multiple relapses where my life was put on hold, debilitating pain that limited my movement and overwhelming fatigue that made the thought of getting up for a cup of coffee seem impossible.
Morning symptom journaling, cuddles with my cats and usually some EFT or light stretching to start the day.
Guesting on podcasts, on coaching calls with my awesome clients, or cooking/hanging out with my hubs.
Making excuses, taking life too seriously, playing by the rules, giving into fears.
My Favorite Things
Okay so I don't "love" social media - but I DO love showing up for you guys & offering as much value as I can. It's what gets me out of bed in the morning!
my guy :)
I love a good cup of coffee, anytime of day.
My three cats are my world. They're basically little people who run our house.
