Is HOW you eat as important as what you eat?

How you’re eating is often more important than what you’re eating. If we’re eating on the go, standing up, at our desks, watching TV, we might be eating in fight or flight, which is not helpful to our bodies. (Remember, when we’re in fight or flight, our digestion shuts off due to blood being funneled […]

To Dairy or not To Dairy

Dairy. It includes all things good in the world, like ice cream. But it is also unfortunately incredibly allergenic among other issues. So what are individuals with autoimmune disease and Multiple Sclerosis to do about dairy? As with many things, the consumption of dairy is a hotly debated topic in the autoimmune world. This is due […]

Last week I went into detail regarding ‘Leaky Gut’, how it originates and how it affects autoimmunity. I also mention that this week I would go into detail about what to do when you have leaky gut and how to go about “Gut Healing”. Let’s first look at if you need some Gut Healing in the […]

Leaky Gut, the Ins and Outs.

“Leaky Gut”. Just that term alone gives me a chill. It makes me think that my insides are going to start oozing out everywhere or that my intestines have sprung a leak. But thankfully, that isn’t what is happening. But what exactly is happening? What is ‘Leaky Gut’? Leaky gut, also known as intestinal permeability […]

Eating for MS and Healing

When we think about treating MS, food isn’t usually the first thing to pop into many peoples minds. Medication usually comes first, then maybe exercise, then possibly stress reduction techniques. But what if I told you that what is on the end of your fork will have a drastic impact on how you feel? So […]

Sleep, Sleep Disorders and How to Sleep Better

Considering there are so many physical symptoms associated with Multiple Sclerosis, including debilitating fatigue, it is interesting to me that there is a absence of research in the area of sleep and MS. We know that a lack of sleep can have a variety of negative side effects on the human body, so it would […]

Exercise and MS

When you Google “Multiple Sclerosis and Exercise”, not too many options appear in the search results. What does come up in the results are usually one page of information about taking it easy, not exerting yourself and watching out for overheating. The recommendations are usually aqua-aerobics, yoga or tai-chi. I’m not saying that swimming or […]

Let’s Talk About Sex

When I was about to start writing MS Monday, and first asked people what they wanted to hear about, sexual dysfunction and sexual problems was at the top of the list. This seemed to be a topic that was extremely prevalent, but something that not many people discussed (I sense a trend here). This was also […]

But I think this relationship was the straw that broke my camels back in terms of developing MS.

I can see other risk factors throughout my life, but this 10000% was the final one.

If you are in a toxic or abusive relationship, job, friendship, family- this is your sign to put yourself first and leave!

These and so many more things are helpful to me in reducing symptoms…

But do I do them all, everyday? Absolutely not 😅

Some are staples, some are supports..

How do you take care of your symptoms?
What’s easiest?
What’s hardest?

Diagnosis TLDR:
Scene: 23, in graduate school, working at Target full time, and unfortunately in an abusive relationship

- vision got blotchy blurry
- spine got electrical impulse feeling with movement
- eye doc, who said get an MRI, then left a message saying don’t have a brain tumor 😲 but see a neurologist IMMEDIATELY 😲😲
- neurologist: does all the tests. More MRIs, visual field, AWFUL spinal tap 😵‍💫

Yup, MS 🧡

What was your first symptom?
what told you something was wrong?

It’s easy to outsource the understanding of our bodies to the internet and “other”

I mean I get it, I was once in an unpredictable body too- and it sucked. I didn’t understand what was happening and I would have loved for someone to say: here’s the key.

But what if… instead of looking outward for more info.. you went inward and gave yourself the information, and in doing so you helped to improve how your body feels and functions.. sounds kinda cool, right?

I explain it all in my Slap it to Map it training.. comment SLAP and I’ll send it to you asap

Your body functioning better so you feel better in 3 minutes?

It sounds like a stupid infomercial BS claim I know and I roll my eyes every time I type it, but.. it’s kinda true?

Idk, I’ll let you be the final judge

It’s an easy exercise with a silly name, but it actually packs a punch and can really change how you feel.

Imagine measurably more energy and feeling more stable and balanced- and even improving a few MS symptoms here and there too?🤷🏻‍♀️

Your possibilities are endless!

Thankfully I haven’t heard any of these in a while.. maybe that means I’m getting my point across 🤷🏻‍♀️

But if you’re new here, I value holistic lifestyle medicine (snake oil 😂) but ALSO conventional medicine, I utilize it all after all.

Yes, what we do as an individual matters for our health.
But so does the health systems we as individuals operate in.

Tomorrow is my MS-aversary, 16 years of having this disease. my newly diagnosed 24 year old self would be pretty shocked that I’m 40 (like in general lol) and also not in a wheelchair.

Here’s to many more years defying what I initially thought to be true about MS.

Comin with me? Hope so.
