Leaky Gut

I’ve been using that wonderful term leaky gut in almost every MSMonday post for the past several weeks. Since leaky gut is at the bottom of pretty much every reason why we cut out certain foods, I figured it was about time to devote an entire post to those two cute little words. So let’s dig a little […]

Nightshades

Nightshades, something that sounds like it should be found in a home decor store, but in reality it is a category of food that is often a staple of everyday cooking. It certainly was of mine pre AIP days! I remember the first time I went shopping after making the AIP leap, wandering around the […]

Dairy

Dairy, it includes all things good in the world, like ice cream. But it is also unfortunately incredibly allergenic among other issues. So what are individuals with autoimmune disease and Multiple Sclerosis to do about dairy? As with many things, the consumption of dairy is a hotly debated topic in the autoimmune world. This is due […]

Gluten

Gluten has certainly got itself quite the negative reputation lately hasn’t it. Everyone seems to be trying to avoid it these days, and probably for good reason. Gluten can definitely do a number on your system, celiac or not. But let’s dive into the issue a bit further and look at the link between gluten […]

Tysabri

Tysabri, also known as Natalizumab, is a once a month infusion for MS. It works differently than other MS meds by blocking white blood cells from entering the brain and spinal cord of individuals, or across the ‘blood brain barrier’. This is believed by many doctors to be a big factor in the damage caused […]

Stress

Stress. That pesky five letter word that everyone in counters at various points of their life and if they say they don’t they’re probably lying. Stress can manifest itself in numerous ways in our bodies from pain to sleeplessness to forgetfulness to headaches, among many many others. But how does stress effect Multiple Sclerosis? First […]

Support

Having adequate supports in place while dealing with MS is incredibly important. However, what ‘proper support’ looks like for each individual may be different. Some people require a support team of many doctors, friends and family to help them out with managing their symptoms, appointments and daily tasks. While others need less around the clock […]

Oral Medications

In terms of healthcare and medicine, oral medications for MS are still considered to be in their infancy. Coming onto the market just five years ago, oral medications for MS were saviors for many. They provided relief from the injections I talked about last week and they provided hope for research of the future. When […]

Injections

Getting shots at the doctors sucks. Getting shots on a regular basis sucks even more. Having to give yourself shots on a weekly or daily basis sucks the most. Having an MS medication that requires you to give yourself an injection was definitely one of the worst things about the disease. At least in my […]

Medication Decisions

After you’ve gone over all of the blood work, the lumbar puncture results. You’ve looked at all the black-and-white images of your brain, and may or may not have received a black or white answer, your doctor brings up the last topic of your appointment. Medication ‘Medication will now be a permanent part of your life’, he says. […]

Oh I definitely did, kicked him out of my kitchen to be exact.

But I think this relationship was the straw that broke my camels back in terms of developing MS.

I can see other risk factors throughout my life, but this 10000% was the final one.

If you are in a toxic or abusive relationship, job, friendship, family- this is your sign to put yourself first and leave!

These and so many more things are helpful to me in reducing symptoms…

But do I do them all, everyday? Absolutely not 😅

Some are staples, some are supports..

How do you take care of your symptoms?
What’s easiest?
What’s hardest?

Diagnosis TLDR:
Scene: 23, in graduate school, working at Target full time, and unfortunately in an abusive relationship

- vision got blotchy blurry
- spine got electrical impulse feeling with movement
- eye doc, who said get an MRI, then left a message saying don’t have a brain tumor 😲 but see a neurologist IMMEDIATELY 😲😲
- neurologist: does all the tests. More MRIs, visual field, AWFUL spinal tap 😵‍💫

Yup, MS 🧡

What was your first symptom?
what told you something was wrong?

It’s easy to outsource the understanding of our bodies to the internet and “other”

I mean I get it, I was once in an unpredictable body too- and it sucked. I didn’t understand what was happening and I would have loved for someone to say: here’s the key.

But what if… instead of looking outward for more info.. you went inward and gave yourself the information, and in doing so you helped to improve how your body feels and functions.. sounds kinda cool, right?

I explain it all in my Slap it to Map it training.. comment SLAP and I’ll send it to you asap

Comment SLAP and I’ll send you the short how to video!

Your body functioning better so you feel better in 3 minutes?

It sounds like a stupid infomercial BS claim I know and I roll my eyes every time I type it, but.. it’s kinda true?

Idk, I’ll let you be the final judge

It’s an easy exercise with a silly name, but it actually packs a punch and can really change how you feel.

Imagine measurably more energy and feeling more stable and balanced- and even improving a few MS symptoms here and there too?🤷🏻‍♀️

Your possibilities are endless!

Comment SLAP and I’ll send you the short video about how to do it!

Take a time out for a literal minute.

It’s amazing what happens when you take the time to care for your body and nervous system.
