How you’re eating is often more important than what you’re eating.
If we’re eating on the go, standing up, at our desks, watching TV, we might be eating in fight or flight, which is not helpful to our bodies.
(Remember, when we’re in fight or flight, our digestion shuts off due to blood being funneled to muscles, so we can either fight or flee.)
Instead, try this:
Mindful eating:
✨Sit down and take 3-5 deep breaths. A quiet meditation or prayer is perfect here.
✨Take a bite, and CHEW (~30chews per bite)
✨Put your fork down if needed.
✨Fully taste the food, is it sweet, spicy? Can you taste different flavors?
Eating in a calm environment with a calm body will make a huge difference.
